Midgut volvulus The condition of
malrotation of the intestine predisposes to rotation around the superior
mesenteric artery.
This
strangulation causes ischemia of all the small intestine. The
main symptom indicating that this is happening is bilious vomiting.
Urgent diagnostic tests to exclude the
possibility of malrotation are essential in all newborns and infants with
bilious vomiting.
