Cystic hygroma

Cystic Hygroma’s are a malformation of the lymphatic system.  Hygroma in Greek means water, which indicates we are talking about a tumour that contains water.  Most of them are noticed soon after birth and with the majority being seen before two years of age.  75% are in the neck, as shown in this picture, and 20% are in the axilla, limbs, mediastinum, pelvis, and the abdominal chest wall.
